THE LAND

The Land est une œuvre de science-fiction en cours d’écriture. Elle met en scène un jeu qui se développe dans le récit, lequel prend forme selon deux formats : le Livre d’Instruction de The Land et le Journal de Bord. Le récit se déploie dans le temps, en parallèle des transformations contemporaines et du contexte dans lequel elle s’inscrit. Ce déploiement s’opère à travers un ensemble de structures narratives, matérielles et opérationnelles. L’interface de The Land est un lieu virtuel où l’oeuvre s’actualise et rend visibles les structures qui contribuent à son déploiement. Le catalogue permet de consulter la fiche de jeu des pièces et, à même celui-ci, le lecteur peut participer aux élections, déterminant ainsi les prochaines pièces de jeu à être dispersées sur le Territoire. Les pièces de jeu sont fondamentales à l’exécution du transfert dans le prochain tableau et placent de ce fait les collecteurs dans une position centrale dans l’atteinte de l’objectif du rendez-vous.

The Land is a science-fiction work in progress. It stages a game that develops within the narrative, which takes form in two formats: the Instruction Book of The Land and the Logbook. The narrative unfolds over time, in parallel with contemporary transformations and the context in which it is situated. This unfolding operates through a set of narrative, material, and operational structures. The Land interface is a virtual place where the work is actualized and makes visible the structures that contribute to its unfolding. The catalogue allows the consultation of the game sheet of the pieces and, within it, the reader can participate in the elections, thus determining the next game pieces to be dispersed across the Territory. The game pieces are fundamental to the execution of the transfer in the next board and thereby place the collectors in a central position in the attainment of the objective of the rendezvous.

Les pièces de jeu sont fabriquées à partir de matériaux ménagers récupérés. Ces matériaux sont d’abord déconstruits, puis transformés et assemblés pour former les pièces d’un jeu stratégique dans lequel elles seront mises en mouvement. Ce jeu ne sera joué qu’une seule fois et la partie s’étendra tout au long du rendez-vous. Lorsque des pièces ont pris forme, elles sont enregistrées dans le catalogue au stade initial. Cet état constitue leur première forme, mais alors que chaque semaine je sélectionne des pièces du catalogue pour les réassembler, cette forme est sujette à des transformations. Chaque réassemblage d’une pièce est une track qui s’ajoute à l’initiale et ce processus engendre de nouvelles pièces.

The game pieces are made from recovered household materials. These materials are first deconstructed, then transformed and assembled to form the pieces of a strategic game in which they will be set in motion. This game will be played only once and the match will extend throughout the rendezvous. When pieces have taken form, they are recorded in the catalogue at the initial stage. This state constitutes their first form, but as each week I select pieces from the catalogue to reassemble them, this form is subject to transformations. Each reassembly of a piece is a track that is added to the initial one and this process generates new pieces.

À travers le corpus de The Land, les voyageurs sont conduits sur le quai en direction du bateau. Conceptuel, opératif et transitif, il engage le voyageur vers le passage. À terme, la composition de The Land permettra le transfert de la source de voyage du vaisseau de la Terre vers le prochain tableau. Dans cette histoire, un passage est rendu aux Disciples et remis en pièces à l’Ordre, une doctrine qui prévaut sur la division des peuples et des religions à travers l’histoire de l’humanité.

Through the Corpus of The Land, travelers are conducted onto the quay in the direction of the ship. Conceptual, operative, and transitive, it engages the traveler toward the passage. In time, the composition of The Land will allow the transfer of the travel source of the spaceship of the Earth into the next tableau. In this story, a passage is returned to the Disciples and delivered in pieces to the Order, a doctrine that prevails over the division of peoples and religions throughout the history of humanity.

The war between the Disciples and the enemy is preparing. It is the Third World War. A war without precedent, concealed beneath the veil of tensions that are settling across the board. The hatching of the egg within which the vessel has taken form is imminent, and it is ready to take off. Soon, the players will be called to reveal themselves and enter the first phase of the worm.
